The Ottawa and District Labour Council (ODLC) currently represents over 90 union locals comprised of approximately 55,000 union members. As the central labour body in the city of Ottawa the ODLC provides a valuable opportunity for delegates from affiliated locals to gather and exchange information and extend mutual support. It is the role of the council to represent the interests of workers in the community.

A lifelong resident of Ottawa, Marlene organized her OPSEU local of health professionals at the Royal Ottawa where she works as a psychologist and has been the local president since certification in 1996.
She has been involved in a number of organizing drives in the city both before and after and conducted high profile campaigns against health care cuts in her workplace.
Marlene joined the executive of the Ottawa and District Labour Council in 2006 and became VP in 2014.
She is past Chair of the Ottawa Health Coalition and chaired People for Public Hospitals in a campaign against hospital P3’s (public-private partnerships).
She produced two reports on the Royal Ottawa P3 called Risky Business and Risky Business II.
Marlene has been an NDP candidate, has served on boards of non-profit agencies and is a social justice advocate.
Over more than two decades of negotiating Marlene won a number of payouts for members culminating in a $2.5 million Pay Equity settlement.

Dave has been active with USW Locals 5297 and currently 9597, a Local representing over 3000 Security guards and Airport Screeners in Eastern and Southwestern Ontario since 1994 holding positions of Trustee, Recording Secretary and is currently the Financial Secretary. He also helped his Local and his union by being the Local Union's organizer, helping to organize over 10 units in the past few years.
Dave was on the bargaining committee and Strike Support Committee for Bradson, enduring a 50 week Lock Out from October 24th 1996 to October 7th 1997.
Dave joined the Labour Council Executive in the late 90s as a member at large and has had several terms as Recording Secretary. He has participated on the Labour Day Committee and has missed only one Labour Day in the past 20 years. He has also been a long time member of the Day of Mourning Committee.
For years Dave has participated in and organized Solidarity Barbeques at many picket lines and demonstrations across our city.
Our Ottawa Labour United Team will continue to support our affiliates and our community partners over the next term

Originally from Alberta, Paige is of Blackfoot, Iroquois, Irish and Scottish background and has been a member of the OPSEU Indigenous Circle for 8 years. She has been employed by LCBO for 30 years and is currently an Assistant Manager. As an OPSEU member she is currently the Chairperson for the Water Campaign within the Indigenous Circle, Vice-chair for the OPSEU Ottawa Area Council and executive on the Ottawa Labour Council. In the past she has also been Local 498 Vice President, shop steward for local 499 and served on the OPSEU Liquor Board Employees Division (LBED) Employment Equity Committee. She has worked on OPSEU's 'We Own It Campaign', and has attended many rallies at Queen's Park for various causes. She is a delegate for the Indigenous Circle in which she attends OPSEU, CLC , OFL & NUPGE conventions. She is a graduate of Algonquin College with a Diploma in Police Foundations and Accounting.

Mohamed has worked in the security Industry since 1990 working for multiple employers in the Ottawa area. He is currently employed by Commissionaires & also with Garda Security. He was one of 150 workers who survived the 11 month lock out by Bradson security in Ottawa which lasted from October 1996 to October 1997. He has completed numerous union training programs including shop stewards training. He has also attended the USW Vote School in Toronto including participating in campaigns during the last Provincial election. He currently sits as a trustee for USW 9597 and is a member of the local’s Political Action Committee. Mohamed is currently a Co-Chair of the ODLC's Political Action & Municipal Affairs Committee
